My dad used to joke that I could only function on two levels: do everything or do nothing; be an overachiever or a sloth. Teasing aside, for a long time I was in the habit of expending all my energy in intermittent, intense bursts, like metaphorical sprints of 14-hour days and insane undertakings in short periods of time, and then I’d just crash and be non-functioning for a week. (Needless to say: it was unhealthy and not sustainable.)
